The Community Refugee Support Fund will provide small-scale grants up to $1,000 to community and sponsoring groups who are helping refugees settle into communities. The fund complements existing settlement services available to newcomers.
The fund provides grants to assist a broad range of initiatives including:
Welcoming initiatives (community picnics, breakfasts, neighbourhood gatherings, etc.)
Social and cultural events (Cooking classes, art focused events, language support, conversation groups, etc.)
Honorariums for exceptional volunteers (interpreters, volunteers, language instructors, coordinators, etc.)
Extraordinary volunteers are defined as those volunteers who greatly exceed the normal expectations of the volunteer role.
